The AQA A Level in Business is a two year course. In Year 1 students will study the core areas of business including leadership & management, marketing, operations, finance and human resources. In year 2 students will build on these functional areas and explore business strategy and the impact of internal & external factors that influence the strategic direction of business. Students explore the interrelated nature of business using business models, theories and techniques to support analysis of contemporary business issues and situations. The content is designed to engage students through topics and issues that are relevant in today’s society; they will study key contemporary developments such as digital technology and business ethics, and globalisation and will examine a wide range of Businesses in the real world in detailed case study analysis. Studying A Level Business will give students a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they service and the process of adding value through consideration of the internal workings and management of profit-making and non profit-making organisations.
● have a minimum GCSE/BTEC Total Point Score (TPS) of 32 (see below) ● meet the subject-specific entry criteria; ● have a full programme of study with 3 A Level courses or equivalent. The most able students have the option of studying a fourth subject. Grade 5 in GCSEs in English and Maths. Students who have studied Business GCSE will need to achieve a grade 5 to study A Level.
100% Examination over three papers. Each paper is 2 hours, 100 marks and worth 33.3% of the A-level. All 10 topic areas will be assessed across the three papers.
