Course summary

The study of life and living organisms, how things function and grow, where you might find them and how they have evolved.Includes ecology, physiology and genetics as well as molecular and cellular biology. Units include Cells, Biological molecules, Exchange between organisms and their environment, Variation and relationships between organisms, How organisms respond to change, Energy transfers in and between organisms, The control of gene expression, Genetics, Populations, Evolution and Ecosystems.

Entry requirements

Grade 6, 6 in Combined Science. If studying separate sciences then must have grade 6 in at least two Sciences including Biology. Must also have grade 6 in Mathematics and English.

How you'll be assessed

3 x 2-hour written papers at the end of Year 13, plus a minimum of 12 required practicals. Successful completion will gain students a practical endorsement.
