BTEC Sport Extended Certificate is the equivalent of one A Level.The course covers a variety of topics all related to sport and exercise science. It is both theoretical and practical. Please note, the practical element relates to fitness testing as opposed to practical performance. It includes developing your knowledge of anatomy and physiology and considering pathways that you can consider if you want a career in sports.
Grade 4 in Science and grade 4 in PE or Pass in Sport BTEC dependent on pathway taken. Plus evidence of extra-curricular involvement in sport.
Year 12: ● Anatomy and Physiology. External written exam (33%). ● Application of Fitness Testing. 2 x written assignments which are internally assessed (17%). Year 13: ● Fitness Training and Programming for Health and Sport, Sport and Well Being. External written exam (33%). ● Professional Development in the Sports Industry. 2 x written assignments which are internally assessed (17%).
