This qualification will provide learners with the opportunity, through applied learning, to develop the core specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required in the health and social care sector. Learners will take units which provide the breadth of knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare them to study in a Higher Education Institution either on a health and social care-related degree course or to support an application for a range of other degree courses.
The minimum requirement for entry to the sixth form is 2 grade 6s and 3 grade 5s in full GCSE courses. These must include a grade 5 or above in both mathematics and English language or literature. Students do not need to have studied health and social care in Key Stage 4.
This qualification is for leaners who want to gain a deeper understanding of the industry. It allows leaners a greater opportunity to complete coursework units as 46% of the final grade is made up of coursework marks.
