The A Level Psychology course is 2 year A Level which comprises of 3 Units: Psychology is the science of mind and behaviour. The course is broken down in to mandatory units which are studies relating to psychological theory. There are then optional units. Mandatory Units cover 8 themes—Social Influence, Memory Attachment, Psychopathology, Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology, Research methods and Issues and debates in Psychology Optional Unit are split into 3 groups: Relationships, Gender or Cognitive Development Schizophrenia, Eating Behaviour and Stress Aggression, Forensic Psychology and Addiction
Essay based assessment requires a Level 5 in GCSE English & Maths and due to the high Biology content a grade 5 in GCSE Biology or equivalent Combined Science course is desirable.
