BTEC in Applied Science will cover the key science concepts in biology, chemistry and physics and introduce you to the principles and applications of Science. Scientists and technicians working in science and science related organisations must have a good understanding of core science concepts. You will study topics such as animal and plant cells; tissues; atomic structure and bonding; chemical and physical properties of substances related to their uses; waves and their application in communications. You will be introduced to laboratory equipment and techniques, including titration, colorimetry, calorimetry, chromatography, calibration procedures and laboratory safety.
Extended Certificate: You will need to have a a minimum of 4s in Science GCSE and a 4 in either Maths or English.
Units will be taught separately with a set deadline for each unit. Two units will be set and marked internally and two units will be examined by a written exam. All of the units include required practical work.
