This is a practical course with workshop sessions that will enable you to develop your understanding and knowledge in a broad range of art and design disciplines. Workshops are delivered to develop understanding and application of visual language and the creative process. A variety of projects are set over the year and students are encouraged to experiment with different mediums to produce full sketchbooks and artwork to exhibit. Modules can include: • Architectural Design • Graphic & Concept Design • Animation and digital Methods of Production • 3D • Product & Packaging Design • Photography • Interior Design • Illustration • Drawing • Painting • Printmaking • Critical and contextual awareness These courses are ideal if you enjoy art and design and prefer a more practical route of study. Students can progress from the Diploma to the Extended Diploma, this includes external applicants. Progression from the Extended Diploma is further study at higher education in areas such as graphic design, advertising, architecture, interior design, jewelry design, photography, textile and fashion design, arts management, or employment in a wide range of roles in the design industry.
5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above (ideally including English and Maths as well as Art & Design at grade 6 or above).
All the units are internally assessed through project work.
