Course summary

The Royal School, Wolverhampton has a dedicated team of specialist science teachers who are passionate about their subject and endeavor to instill this passion in all students on a daily basis. The philosophy within the department is to bring a holistic approach to the study of science. We aim to bring an enjoyment and love of biology, chemistry, and physics subjects, as well as a knowledge and understanding of the importance science plays in our lives. From exciting experiments in one of our six large and well-equipped laboratories, through purposeful debates and discussions to hands-on collaboration experiences, we aim to make our subject as accessible as possible to everyone who studies it. The course also aims to develop communication skills so that all students can share their scientific experiences meaningfully with others, readying them for university courses and the world of work. The Applied Science BTEC pathway runs parallel to our A-level suite of courses. The BTEC route offers students alternative access to a science qualification, with an emphasis on practical, vocational, and experimental science. This course is equivalent to one A-level and is taken in conjunction with two other option choices.
