English Literature
Course summary

You will explore different ways in which plays, novels, and poems can be read, connected, and written about. You will deepen your appreciation of Shakespeare, of modern dramatists, and of poetry written before 1900. You will gain further insight into Gothic Literature, and into Literature published post-1900 and post-2000. You will develop your own independent reading and thinking whilst exploring other critical ideas and improving your skills of close analysis.

Entry requirements

5 Grade 4s and above to include Grade 4 in either GCSE English Language or English Literature A love of reading beyond your set texts

How you'll be assessed

2 closed book examination papers each lasting 2.5 hours and each worth 40% of your final grade 1 coursework unit consisting of two tasks and worth 20% of your final grade
