Course summary

Economics is a study of why and how decisions are made by individuals, firms and Governments. Contemporary topics which affect you now and in the future, such as Brexit, Globalisation and university funding are examined closely. Theme 1: Markets, consumers & firms This unit covers: The economic problem, enterprise, business and the economy, sources and methods of finance, market failure and government intervention, revenue, costs and profits Theme 2: The wider economic environment This unit covers: Business growth, marketing and elasticities of demand, business efficiency, the global economy, the economic cycle, introduction to macroeconomic policy. Theme 3: The global economy This unit includes: Globalisation, business expansion, global marketing, multi-national corporations, global labour markets, inequality Theme 4: Making markets work This unit covers: competition & market power, market failure (business & economy) macro-economic policies, financial sector and risk.

Entry requirements

English Language, Maths and three other subjects at Grade 4 and above.

How you'll be assessed

• 100% examination • 3 papers, completed at the end of Year 13
