A-level Fine Art encourages students to pursue a very personal creative journey, equipping them with the skills to develop their own creative language and forms of self-expression. We want your art experience to be an exciting one and to challenge you creatively as well as help you develop social, interpersonal, and communicative skills. Throughout the course, you will learn from highly qualified subject specialists to explore, research, and acquire new skills and techniques. The hands-on programme is designed to introduce you to a range of different methods and approaches within Fine Art; honing your skill level and equipping you with the tools to make your strongest work. Throughout the two years you will build up a portfolio of work comprising of short projects and more sustained longer-form investigations. The course can lead to further study within all areas of art & design or just provide you with a wider understanding of the world around you and your place within it.
6 GCSEs between 9 to 4 (A*-C) for including 2 of English, Maths or Science. 2 should be at least grade 6 (B). GCSE Art grade 9-4.
Component 1: Personal Investigation (60% of A Level) You will produce two elements: - A portfolio of practical work showing their personal response to either a starting point, brief, scenario or stimulus, devised and provided by the learner or center. - A related study: an extended response of a guided minimum of 1000 words. Component 2: Externally Set Task (40% of A Level) You will respond to an externally set task which will provide a number of starting points. A response will be based on one of these options.
