Course summary

The Digital Photography A-Level is a way of visually recording, documenting and presenting both the ordinary and extraordinary. It is often considered an art form, an aspect of self-expressionism, a journalistic process or even an aspect of visual culture. This is a practical subject, combined with in-depth photographic theory and art history.

Entry requirements

At least five 5s at GCSE, including at least a 5 in any GCSE Art subject, as listed below (NOT Graphic Products). If you have not taken GCSE Art, we will send out a mini-portfolio task for you to complete after you have finished all of your GCSEs in June. For entry onto Digital Photography we accept a Grade 5 in the following subjects: • GCSE Art • GCSE Fine Art • GCSE Art and Design • GCSE Photography • GCSE Graphics • GCSE Textiles • Distinction in BTEC Art • Distinction in BTEC Art & Design Have you considered studying a Mixed Programme (A-Levels and BTECs)? Whether you’re on target to achieve five 5s in your GCSEs or not, there may still be an option to study A-Levels alongside a BTEC qualification at Newman.
