The new business specification is intended to be robust and challenging to students. The content is designed to engage students through topics and issues which are relevant in today’s society – for example, you will study key contemporary developments such as digital technology, business ethics and globalisation. You will study business in a variety of contexts (e.g. large/small, UK-focused/global, service/manufacturing) and consider the importance of the context of business in relation to: • Decision making; • The interrelated nature of business activities and how they affect competitiveness; • The influences on functional decisions and plans, including ethical and environmental issues; • The factors which might determine whether a decision is successful e.g. the quality of data and the degree of uncertainty. The course includes 3 exams at the end of the 2 years.
- To study Business you will require a grade 6 or higher in GCSE Business or an M2 in Enterprise & Marketing. -At least 5 GCSE passes. Two of these will need to be at grade 5 or higher, with a further three at grade 4 or higher.
