The department follows the AQA exam board. Paper 1 is the breadth study which examines The Making of a Superpower: USA, 1865 – 1975 and Paper 2 is the depth study which examines The Making of Modern Britain, 1951 – 2007. There is also a third unit which is the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). This involves independent research and works to complete a 4500-word inquiry linked to the topics of the Tudors or Stuarts.
5 GCSE passes (or equivalent) grade 6 in History required
80% Examination 20% NEA.
