Course summary

Chemistry is a popular choice for A Level because of its exciting experiments and applications to many real life contexts. The study of Chemistry provides vital understanding for the way materials and chemicals can be used to make a whole range of exciting products, from plastics, perfumes and prosthetic limbs to how chemicals work in living organisms. Students are encouraged to develop their skills including carrying out many practical reactions and making interesting products such as aspirin.

Entry requirements

• 2 grades at grade 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths plus 3 grades at grade 4 or above in other subjects. • We recommend that you have a grade 6 or above in Combined Science (Trilogy) or Chemistry at GCSE (Higher Paper). It must be emphasised that this is not a requirement but may prove helpful, especially when accessing the higher grades at A Level. This course is not suitable if you are re-sitting GCSE maths.
