Students study the National Extended Certificate. This is the equivalent of one A level and comprises four units. This qualification is designed for students who are interested in an introduction to the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information alongside other fields of study, to progress to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily IT. The units covered are: Unit 1: Information Technology Systems Unit 2: Creating Systems to Manage Information Unit 3: Using Social Media in Business Unit 6: Website development The qualifications are designed to enable students to enter employment at the operative or trainee level within a wider range of environments using IT. Such students would normally enter employment through a work-related training program or go on to further studies in this area. This is a vocational course aimed to equip you with the skills required for higher education or employment in the IT industry. You will gain a broad range of skills that are transferrable to the world of work.
