This course provides thorough training for those wishing to work in care homes and in a social care settings (e.g. hospices, care homes for the elderly or for people with disabilities or mental illness). You will undertake part of your course in college and part in training placements in the community so that you gain experience of working in a variety of health and social care settings. This enables you to gain practical, hands on training.
4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language or a Merit grade or above from Level 2 Health & Social Care. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
External exams, production of a portfolio consisting of a variety of assessment evidence to support achievement in various units. This might entail recorded discussions, reflective accounts, observational reports, recorded interviews, case studies, scrapbooks, videos, care plans, job descriptions, record keeping and health and safety and security posters.
