Course summary

Democracy, electoral systems, political parties, voting behaviour, the constitution, parliament, the Prime Minister and cabinet, relations between the branches, liberalism, conservatism, socialism and feminism. The state and globalisation, global political and economic governance, human rights, the environment, power, regionalism and comparative theories.

Entry requirements

To gain entry into the Taverham Sixth Form for A-level studies, you will need six Grade 4s or above in your GCSEs which must include GCSE English Language and Maths. In a subject that you have taken at GCSE and wish to continue, Grade 5 is recommended in that subject. Attitude to learning and attendance at GCSE will be taken into account when looking at progression within a subject. In essay-based subjects, we strongly recommend a Grade 5 in English. In science-based subjects, we strongly recommend a Grade 5 in maths.
