We study the theories of great psychologists and seek to understand the various approaches and methods used to examine behaviours, thoughts and feelings. You will learn the value of Psychology in everyday life and how it can impact everyone, from how attachments are formed to how Psychology has influenced interview techniques used by police when speaking to eyewitnesses or from learning about different functions of parts of the brain to how phobias are developed and maintained. What are the progression opportunities? This course will help you to develop mathematical, essay-writing and analytical skills that are highly valued in a huge range of careers. Students who are successful at A Level Psychology often go onto careers in Criminology, Teaching, Counselling, Nursing and Law.
GCSE English 5. GCSE Maths 5. 4/4 in GCSE Science. At least 4 x GCSE at grade 5 or above.
Paper 1- Introductory Topics in Psychology: Social Influence, Memory, Attachment and Psychopathology. Paper 2- Psychology in Content: Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology, and Research Methods. Paper 3- Issues and options in Psychology: Issues and debates in Psychology, Relationships, Schizophrenia and Aggression. Assessment is 100% examinations based, with three papers at the end of Year 13.
