Develop concepts familiar from GCSE such as the Periodic Table, atomic structure, rates of reaction and the Mole, but with a greater emphasis on the fundamental principles. Teaching is via a variety of engaging methods such as IT-led activities, problem solving, discussion and practicals. Practicals are an assessed part f the course and there is ample practice available.
- Grade 4 at Double Award Higher Tier or Triple Chemistry Higher Tier although students below a Grade 5 may struggle. Grade 5 in Maths is also needed. - Students must achieve 5 or more GCSE passes. - Two of these passes must be Grade 6 or higher. - Students who have not achieved either Grade 4 or above in English and Maths will be expected to achieve this by completing a resit in the first year of study.
