Course summary

This is a two-year study programme which is equivalent to 3 A Levels, however, a one-year option is also available which is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. Both program years will accrue UCAS points should your chosen progression route be a UK university. This intense two-year is designed to equip you with the skills and qualities needed to be successful in the coaching, fitness, or sports science industry. It will help you to develop an understanding of a broad range of sports and exercise topics. During the course, you will have opportunities to complete a number of sports coaching qualifications, go on visits to St. George’s Park, and gain work experience through our community partners. After successful progression onto the second year of the program, you can choose a specific pathway tailored to your career goals: An intense coaching and exercise science route which allows you to achieve the equivalent of 3 A Levels, developing an understanding of a broad range of topics. An intense fitness industry-based pathway designed to develop the skills and experience required to work within the fitness industry. On completion of the course, you will achieve the equivalent of 2 A Levels and a YMCA Level 1 Award in Fitness and Physical Activity. As part of your program, you will participate in a number of varied enrichment activities, trips, and visits. Real-life environment assessments are a feature within the qualification. Learners have access to our gym facilities at Fleet Street Fitness. The space is used weekly for delivery, assessment, and personal fitness development.

Entry requirements

Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including either English or maths (or) A level 2 subject specific qualification including a level 2 or equivalent in either English or maths (or) An equivalent occupational experience including a level 2 or equivalent in either English or maths

You will be assessed through exams, reports, presentations, practical observations, and interviews. The assessments are designed to build the skills and confidence employers and universities are looking for, setting you up for your next step.
