We currently follow the OCR A-Level Physical Education course and students can undertake A-Level Physical Education here at the academy. The course contains a practical element but is weighted more toward a theoretical aspect of the study. The Physical Education A-Level course is taught by experienced members of staff who ensure students receive excellent teaching of the A-Level in PE. The department has a history of good results and supporting students who are ready for the rigors of university life and employment. A Level of Physical Education can also enhance subject knowledge across a broad range of subjects.
7 GCSE subjects at grades 5-9 This must include: English and Maths at Grade 5
The course is assessed by three exams at the end of the course. Students will study topics including Anatomy, Sociology of Sport, History of Sport, Learning of Skills, and Sports Psychology. Students are also examined in a practical sport as a performer or coaches, and their ability to analyze sporting performance.
