Level 2 covers a range of basic accounting practices and techniques, from costing and double-entry bookkeeping to computerised accounting. It is ideal if you are new to working in accounting or if you are wanting to update your knowledge and skills. Basic Accounting 1 and Basic Accounting 2, which includes: • Double entry bookkeeping • Recording cash and credit transactions • Preparing and recording financial documentation • Maintaining and reconciling the cash book • Maintaining petty cash records • Processing business transactions and extracting a trial balance • Maintaining the journal and control accounts • Basic costing • Computerised accounting (SageLine50) • Working Effectively in Accounting and Finance • Professional Ethics in Accounting and Finance (Apprentices only)
Students should have an adequate level of English (Level 2 or equivalent) and Mathematics (Level 1 or equivalent.) The AAT also requires all students to disclose any criminal records or financial barriers to membership e.g. County Court Judgements (CCJs), bankruptcy etc. Applicants should seek advice from the AAT to ensure that they can meet these requirements for AAT Student Membership prior to enrolment.
All units are Computer Based Assessments (CBAs) and will be held at Furness College.
