Course summary

The course is intended for post 16 leaners who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education (such as a BSc(Hons) in Nursing, Social Work and Physiotherapy etc) and ultimately to employment in the Health and Social Care sector. The qualification is equivalent to three A Levels. The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care develops a deep common core of knowledge, understanding and skills in the sector through mandatory content. It allows learners to focus on a particular aspect of the sector through the selection of optional units, including a route that focuses specifically in health studies. The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care develops employability skills such as cognitive and problem solving skills (using critical thinking, creative solutions and using systems and technology), interpersonal skills (self-management, adaptability and resilience) and intrapersonal skills (communicating, working collaboratively and negotiating and influencing).

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, grades 4/5 or above (including English and maths) or other equivalent qualifications. You will be required to attend an interview. Students must have a clear DBS certificate.
