Course summary

Mathematics is a popular subject for A level students at Cranbrook, but students also realise that mathematics at this level is a demanding discipline. We study the OCR Mathematics A modular course, which enables our students to take a broad combination of modules from the strands of Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, Statistics and Decision Mathematics. During the AS course students will study: Indices and surds; Polynomials; Coordinate geometry and graphs; Differentiation; Trigonometry; Sequences and series; Algebra; Integration; Representation of data; Probability; Discrete random variables and Bivariate data.

Entry requirements

- B or above at GCSE - Cranbrook School currently requires at least a grade 4 at GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.

AS Mathematics (studied in year 12): Module 1: Core Mathematics 1 (C1), Module 2: Core Mathematics 2 (C2), Module 3: Probability and Statistics 1 (S1). A2 Mathematics: Module 4: Core Mathematics 3 (C3), Module 5: Core Mathematics 4 (C4), Module 6: Mechanics 1 (M1)
