You will learn about fundamental physical concepts and how to apply these in everyday and technological settings. You will apply your GCSE Mathematics to solving problems and you will also see how A level Mathematics is used. It is recommended (but not essential) to take the two subjects together. There is also a strong practical component to the lessons. In Year 12 you study Imaging, Sensing, Signaling, Materials, Mechanics, Waves and Quantum Physics. Year 13 includes Cosmology, Relativity, Particles, Gases, Oscillations and Electromagnetic machines. Assessment is by three examinations at the end of the course and ongoing assessment of practical skills. Your grade is from the examinations and the practical endorsement is pass/fail.
5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English and Maths as well as meeting subject entry requirements. 6 in GCSE Physics OR 6,6 in Combined Science & 6 in GCSE Maths
