This course will equip you with the skills, knowledge and practical experiences you need across a broad range of areas, and give you the choice to specialise in your particular areas of interest. You will learn about the functioning of the human body, and explore current issues in the world of sport and in sports coaching. This vocational-based course aims to equip students with the skills required for higher education or employment in the sports industry. You will learn about how the body works, as well as current issues in sport and sports coaching. The classroom-based lessons are supplemented with practical sessions to help develop their understanding. The course can be completed as a Single or Double Award. Content: The three major theoretical units covered of the Single Award are: • Anatomy and Physiology (assessed by written examination) • Fitness Training and Programming (assessed by written examination) • The Sports Industry (coursework assessed) These units give you the knowledge and understanding that underpin many areas of work and employment in the sports sector. Students have the opportunity to complete the Diploma course which involves studying additional units including: • Fitness Testing • Sports Coaching • Sports Performance and Analysis • The Athlete's Lifestyle
5 GCSEs at a standard pass grade and at least a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. • GCSE English Language and Mathematics Grade 4 essential. • GCSE Grade 4 in any Science or GCSE Grade 4 in PE (if studied).
