This course is predominantly the study of modern texts with a few pre-1900 extracts thrown in. Component 1: anthology of non-fiction and spoken texts: everything from live music reviews to political satire. Component 2: analysis of poetry and drama. Component 3: Reading as a writer and writing as a reader.
5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English and Maths as well as meeting subject entry requirements. 5 in GCSE English Language and Literature
Assessment: Three exams at the end of the course. Two pieces of coursework: one creative writing (non-fiction) and the other a critical comparison of your choice of two texts.
