Course summary

A level Drama and Theatre aims to inspire students to become independent theatre makers through the development of skills they will need to go on to higher education, whether that is to study a course in drama and theatre or another subject. This qualification emphasizes practical creativity alongside research and theoretical understanding. Students are encouraged to collaborate, communicate and create pieces of their own theatre; as well as study a variety of styles, practitioners and scripted texts. Students learn through experience, seeing theatre and making theatre for themselves. Students will be invited to a number of theatre visits, which will be studied throughout the course. IS THIS COURSE FOR ME? If you wish to be creatively challenged, engaged, and motivated then this is the course for you. You must be committed, inquisitive and passionate about performing arts to achieve in this excellent A-level course.

Entry requirements

Our course centre requirements for all courses are grade 4 or above in 5 subjects including GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics with a good attitude to learning. Course centre requirements + minimum grade 5 in drama. All students will be considered on an individual basis if they have not studied drama before. You must have a drama background to access the requirements of the course.
