This course has been developed to follow current digital industry requirements and match the proposed government changes to the national curriculum in ICT. Developments such as iPads, BlackBerrys, Apps, social media and online gaming are now a part of everyday life. The career opportunities in this market are growing massively. Applications and packages studied include Adobe Creative Suite 5, Photoshop, Dreamweaver & Flash, DVD software and use of Office Suite. The course will include guest speakers, trips, work experience activities as well as the individual projects you will work on to achieve the units. The range of topics you will study include: DVD Menu Design, animation, digital graphics, website development, understanding the interactive media industry, working freelance, pre-production techniques, communication skills, research techniques, computer game story development, computer game design, working to a brief, project management and critical approaches to interactive media. Units are subject to change so they cover the two year course.
Applicants require at least five GCSEs at grade 4-5 or above (or equivalents), including English and Maths. A BTEC Level 2 Diploma in IT (with Merits or Distinctions) will also be considered.
The course is assessed by projects and assignments based on your units, this could be by presentations, voice recordings, reports, video evidence, blogs or other methods of assessment.
