This qualification is designed for learners who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed make-up artist. Learners will provide a range of creative make-up services in media, theatre and fashion and photographic settings. Learners will also style and fit hair pieces, apply false eyelashes and understand related cosmetic science that underpins the subject. Learners will also develop communication and customer service skills together with research and problem-solving skills.
It is expected students will have achieved either one of the following qualifications or have appropriate prior experience. Level 2 Beauty Therapy Level 2 Hairdressing Level 2 Hair and Media make-up.
Students are assessed throughout the course both practically and theoretically. Assessment is set, marked and internally quality assured to demonstrate achievement of learning outcomes. Students will complete a final synoptic practical assessment. Learners will also produce a portfolio of evidence to meet learning outcomes as specified. Externally assessed question papers completed electronically will be set and marked by the examination board.
