Through this qualification, you will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them. You will also learn that there is more to floristry than flowers and that for florists to be successful, they need to understand their tools, environment and the finishing touches that make a difference. With this, you will develop an understanding of design principles and the skills needed to apply these to the design and creation of floristry products. You will understand how the floristry business operates and develop the skills needed to interact with customers and identify their needs. This qualification is suitable if you are 16 years old, or over. You may or may not have any previous knowledge or experience in floristry. You will understand the skills and knowledge that are important when working in a floristry setting, or progressing to further learning and training in this area. Topics covered in the course include work experience and safe working practices, wedding designs, funeral designs, flower and plant care, promotion and display, planted designs, presentation, and hand tied design.
Must have completed Level 1 Diploma in Floristry, work in the industry or training towards working in the industry. 3 x GCSE's grade 4 or above including Maths & English.
Externally set exam followed by a synoptic practical assessment & written report. 150 hours of industry placement.
