In Art, Craft and Design students will develop their investigative, analytical, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills. The course is designed to enhance all students. Aesthetic understanding, critical judgment and knowledge of art, craft and design, media and technologies in contemporary and past societies and cultures. Students will develop a knowledge and experience of real-world contexts and where appropriate, links to creative industries via live projects with real clients. Students taking this course would expect to progress onto higher education courses in Art and History or Art and Media.
Six GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including Art and Design. A GCSE in Art is the best platform from which to take this subject although in some circumstances after negotiations with the teaching staff, students may access the course from the Graphics GCSE.
