Course summary

Paper 1: Language and the Individual This unit is an introduction to the study of language, focusing on text variations and representations. Methods of language analysis are integrated into class activities. Paper 2: Language varieties The aim of this unit is to develop your writing skills and gain knowledge and understanding of our diverse language. Looking in particular at children’s language development and language diversity and change.

Entry requirements

Five Grade 9 to 4 grades or equivalent, including a 4 or better in both English language and maths. GCSE Grade 5 or above in both Maths & English Language.

How you'll be assessed

A level assessment includes two summative examinations and the compilation of a coursework folder. This folder is made up of language investigation and a piece of original writing.
