Fine Art at A level will give you the opportunity to improve your artistic skills and explore your creativity. You will experience a wide range of activities in two and three dimensions and be encouraged to develop your own personal style.
Students should achieve a minimum of five GCSEs Grade 4-9, this must include Maths and English Language or Literature. In addition, GCSE Grade 6 is desired in the subject areas chosen to study at A level, however, Grade 5 will be considered in certain circumstances. This will be considered on a case by case basis.
Assessment is based on a combination of the Personal Investigation (60% of final grade) and an externally set assignment (40%). Your Personal Investigation (60%) is your choice of subject matter, and is a whole project within Fine Art with an accompanying essay of 1000-3000 words. The externally set assignment (40%) will be given to you in February, and you will have several weeks to work on a project, culminating in a 15-hour controlled assessment where you will produce a final response for the externally set assignment.
