A-level Further Mathematics is studied alongside A-level mathematics and provides deeper understanding of Mathematical knowledge and skills. It is most suited to students that enjoy the challenges of Maths and for those that plan to study Computing, Technology, Scientific, Engineering or Mathematical subjects at University. WHAT WILL I STUDY? The work covered in Further Mathematics will build directly on the Core topics that are studied in A-level Mathematics as well as introduce some new concepts, including complex numbers and matrices. Further Mathematics will also provide the opportunity to study the application of Mathematics in more detail. The areas of Mechanics and Statistics will be covered. The course will be assessed by four external exams at the end of Year 13.
Minimum of five grade 5 – 9 GCSE’s (this should include Maths and English). We will take into account BTEC courses and GCSE results. GCSE Mathematics with a grade 8. You must be studying A-Level Maths.
The areas of Mechanics and Statistics will be covered. The course will be assessed by four external exams at the end of Year 13.
