A Level English Literature gives students an opportunity to read a range of classic literary texts (poetry, prose and drama) from tragedy to crime writing. Students will be encouraged to respond to these texts applying a range of critical theories to their reading. They will reflect how great literary themes are relevant to their own lives. As reading is an essential part of the English course, students must be prepared to read widely in their spare time; this is a pre-requisite for academic success. In essence, this course gives students a chance to study and immerse themselves in great works of literature that have changed people's lives across time.
7 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including grade 5 in GCSE English and English Literature or above.
