These are all questions you will be able to answer after studying A level Biology, the fascinating science of living things, what they do, and why they do it. Course Content • Biological molecules. • Cells. • Organisms exchanging substances. • Genetic information and variation. • Energy transfers. • Organisms respond to the environment. • Genetics, populations, evolution, and ecosystems. • The control of gene expression. Opportunities and experiences in Biology • Visits and talks including RSPB Saltholme. • We are hoping to host “Operating Theatre Live —become a Doctor for the Day!”. • Dissections. • Links within the community to help you gain work experience in this field.
You will need to achieve five or more “4” grades including Grade 6 in Biology or 6-6 in Double Award Science
At the end of Year 13 you will take three papers, each 2 hours long. You will also be required to complete a write-up of 12 practicals within the two years.
