What is the point of war? What should we protest about? In English Literature we will address all this and so much more. Course Content • Tragedy - Shakespeare. • Tragedy - Tess of d’Urbervilles. • Social and Political Protest - The Handmaid’s Tale • Social and Political Protest - Blake. • Social and Political Protest - Kite Runner. • Social and Political Protest - Unseen. • Coursework - two essays, one on a book of your choice and one on poetry by Sylvia Plath. Opportunities and experiences in English Literature • Visits and talks from university tutors. • Chance to join creative writing club and run the school's online magazine.

Entry requirements

You will need to achieve five or more “4” grades.

How you'll be assessed

At the end of Year 13 you will take two papers. You do two coursework essays.
