The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a Level 3 qualification, equivalent to half an A2 and can be graded A* - E. Learners may choose to take the EPQ in addition to their 3 A level subjects, as an extension from their other A2 qualifications or explore areas of personal interest or activity outside the main programme of study. Delivery of the EPQ will involve some teaching of the relevant skills (1 lesson per week), plus mentoring and supervision of the learner’s progress. It will also involve extended independent work by the learner.
Students should achieve a minimum of five GCSEs Grade 4-9, this must include Maths and English Language or Literature. In addition, GCSE Grade 6 is desired in the subject areas chosen to study at A level, however, Grade 5 will be considered in certain circumstances. This will be considered on a case by case basis.
There are 3 parts to the assessment: • The Project • The Production Log • The Presentation All 3 aspects are assessed by the Centre and moderated by an external moderator.
