English Literature offers you the opportunity to explore a wide variety of poems, plays and novels, from modern pieces by new and innovative authors to writers such as Shakespeare. You will be encouraged to develop your own opinions and be shown how to search literature for evidence to support your ideas. You will study Love Through the Ages for paper one and Texts in Shared Contexts for paper two, assessed through examination. You will also undertake the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). This will take the form of an independent critical study of texts across time.
Grade 6 or above in GCSE English Language and preferably GCSE English Literature.
80% exam, 20% coursework.
