Art and Design (Photography)
Course summary
The course is a two-year programme offering students an in depth knowledge of how the industry works. Students wishing to take A Level Photography will need to have a keen interest in Photography and Art and Design in general. ICT skills will be an advantage as this is an ever-expanding aspect of the course. As with all A-level qualifications, self-motivation and independent study are essential to the successful completion of the course. The course content is set out below: Component 1: Personal Investigation; This is a practical investigation supported by written material. Students are required to conduct a practical investigation, into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material (3000-word written essay). Component 2: Externally Set Assignment; Students will produce a portfolio of work through practical responses with written annotations from a choice of questions set by the exam board.
