You should choose this course if you have a passion for imagery, you have creative flair and you enjoy a combination of practical and computer based work. If you have an eye for design and like to express your individuality, then this is the course for you! You will study photography from an academic view, responding to the world around you and taking your ideas into visual outcomes. These visual outcomes will be highly skilled and hold meaning to both the producer and the viewer due to the rigorous development and refinement of the visual journey.
At least five GCSE grades 9-6. If you have not taken an art and design qualification in year 11, don’t worry. We can assess your creative ability and material understanding at interview.
You will complete a personal investigation worth 60%, which involves a major in-depth, critical, practical, and theoretical investigative project/portfolio and outcome(s) based on themes and subject matter that have personal significance and an extended written element of 1000 words minimum, which may contain images and texts. You will also complete an externally set assessment worth 40%, which involves a preparatory study period and a 15 hour period of sustained focus work.
