Course summary

Duration of course: 2 Years Four equally weighted examinations at the end of year 13: Paper 1 – Core Pure Mathematics 1 Paper 2 – Core Pure Mathematics 2 Paper 3 - Further Statistics 1 Paper 4 – Decision Mathematics 1 A level Further Mathematics is a separate A level that is taken in addition to taking A-level Mathematics. Half of the content of this will be Core Pure, a quarter is Further Statistics and a quarter is Decision Mathematics. This course provides students with a taste of a more independent style of learning, which is good preparation for university or a career.

Entry requirements

Grade 9 (or High Grade 8) at GCSE Maths.

How you'll be assessed

AS Further Maths will be assessed at the end of Year 12. A-Level Further Maths is examined in full in May/June of Year 13 and each examination is 1½ hours. There is no coursework element to this course.
