The aim of the course is for students to gain an in-depth understanding of physical activity and sporting performance, how the body copes and deals with the sporting environment, how sport has developed and its position now within society. This is done through the following modules at AS - Anatomy and Physiology, Acquiring Movement Skills and Socio-cultural Issues Relating to Sport, and at A2 through Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology and the History of Sport.
5 9-4 including GCSE ‘6’ in PE and GCSE '5' in Science.
Students’ practical performances are also assessed as well as their ability to analyse sporting performance. Assessment – 70% written examination, 30% practical assessment.
