Art and Design (Fine Art)
Course summary
This course is designed to be very flexible, allowing students to creatively explore any aspect that is personal to them whilst learning and developing key skills in a wide variety of Fine Art disciplines. Students will experiment with a range of techniques including sculpture, installation art, printmaking, and ceramics, as well as painting and drawing. In the first year, you will study theme-based workshops exploring a range of contextual references, which introduce students to new techniques and processes. Students will also explore different ideas and starting points through class work and home study, which could lead to a concept for your Investigation. In the past themes have included – Me, Myself and I, Collections, Freedom of speech, Fears and Phobias Perspectives, and Technology Today. You will begin your Investigation during Year 12. In the second year of study, you will be working on your Investigation until February. Then you begin the externally set assignment.
