Mathematics at all levels is about learning new, interesting ideas and techniques and, when they have been assimilated, using them to solve new problems, many of which may be models of a real-life situation. As such, it is a linear subject in which most new concepts build on those already learned, and so the main working methods are the regular introduction of a new concept followed by homework exercises to enable you to learn the concept and situations in which it can be used. Students are also required to study a combination of the following units: - Pure Mathematics - Mechanics - Statistics
In order to be accepted onto the A level Mathematics course, students must achieve a minimum of a grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics.
