This qualification will help students develop their skills and knowledge of the sport and physical activity sector. The course covers principles of anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, fitness testing for sport and exercise, psychology for sports performance, and preparing for a career in the sports industry. Upon successful completion of this qualification, students will be able to progress to a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Science or Sports Coaching. Learners can also progress on to degree-level study with our higher education partner, UCEN Manchester. Students progressing from The Manchester College will receive a cash award through the Achievers Scholarship.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English or maths, or prior achievement at Level 2 Functional Skills in English or maths. A merit or higher at vocational Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 may be considered as a GCSE equivalent.
Assessments for this qualification are made up of a variety of supervised assessments, coursework and presentations.
