Our Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-up qualification is designed to develop your skills as a professional make-up artist working with performers to a high level, enabling you to provide hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion, and photographic industries. This Diploma has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques. During this qualification you'll study a range of units including media, special effects, and camouflage make-up, applying ready-made small prosthetic pieces and bald caps, monitoring and maintaining health and safety, client care and communication, styling and fitting a postiche and how to apply the complex skill of airbrush make-up. Upon successful completion of this qualification, you'll be able to progress on to degree-level study with our higher education partner, UCEN Manchester. If you progress on to this qualification from the College then you'll be eligible to receive our Achievers Award which includes will receive a cash award to support you with your university studies.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English or maths, or prior achievement at Level 2 Functional Skills in English or maths. A merit or higher at vocational Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 may be considered as a GCSE equivalent.
You'll be assessed through practical observations which will support your program of learning. You'll also build a portfolio of evidence and be assessed continually through practical assessments, exams, and assignments.
