Course summary

The course covers a variety of Health and Social Care topics to give a broad introduction to health, early years care and education, social care, and issues affecting the care sector. The course will help to develop skills, knowledge, and understanding in realistic health and social care contexts, and offers work placements in health and social care settings. The course covers a number of topics including Effective Communication in Health and Social Care, Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care, Caring for Children and Young People, plus many others. This course covers three core units: • Human Lifespan Development • Working in Health and Social Care • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs One optional unit selected by the teacher: • Sociological perspectives • Psychological perspectives • Supporting individuals with additional Needs • Physiological Disorders and their Care

Entry requirements

You do not need to have any experience or qualifications in this subject but will need a minimum of five level 5 GCSE grades, or equivalent.

How you'll be assessed

The course is assessed both internally and externally. Internal assessment is on a regular basis throughout the year. The students are assessed in a variety of ways such as PowerPoint presentations, written tasks, case studies, practical work, and group work. The students will also be assessed externally in the form of two examinations.
